Sean Bean splits from fourth wife after two years of marriage
Actor Sean Bean and his fourth wife Georgina Sutcliffe have split after just two years of marriage.
The Lord Of The Rings star's lawyers confirmed reports yesterday of their impending divorce on the grounds of 'irreconcilable differences'.
A statement from the actor's lawyer Graham Atkins, of Atkins Thomson Solicitors, said: 'Sean Bean and Georgina Sutcliffe have separated after two years of marriage.
'Neither intends to comment further. They hope that their privacy will be respected at this difficult time.'
Bean, 51, and actress Sutcliffe, 32, married in Marylebone Registry Office in London in February 2008.
They had originally planned to wed a month earlier at a Mayfair hotel, but called the event off just 24 hours beforehand, citing 'personal reasons'.
The couple, who started dating in 2006, had a turbulent relationship, with police called to their house on three occasions over domestic disputes.
Bean's marriage to his first wife Debra, a hairdresser, came when he was just 21.
Their marriage didn't last long after he moved to London a short time later to study at RADA and fell in love with fellow student Melanie Hill.
Hill, best known for playing Aveline in Bread, became his second wife in 1990 and the couple had two daughters together Lorna, 22, and Molly, 18.
Their marriage lasted seven years and soon after their split, Bean confirmed he was dating actress Abigail Cruttenden, who he met on the set of ITV series Sharpe.
The couple married in November 1997 and their daughter Evie, now 11, was born the following year, however they split when their baby was only a few months old.
